Final thoughts before I buy?

Everything look ok? No conflicts? Also getting a 40mm fan to afix to the NB heatsink to actively cool it a bit more than passive.

I have the same RAM and the same motherboard. I have my e6300 running at 2.8GHz rock stable since I got the machine. I also have the RAM running at 800MHz with 2.1 volts. I have almost ZERO problems with this configuration. The only "problem" that I've had is not being able to get over 2.8GHz on my processor stable. I don't really want to increase vcore either, because excess voltage is what kills processors, second is heat....but as long as you aren't going over 65C or so under load then you should be fine.

Make sure to tell us how that cooler works for your cpu. I am currently using the stock cooler and am thinking about buying something else to get my temps down a little. I'm currently running at about 59-62 under full load. I would like to see those drop a little bit, but I'm still well within Intel's thermal specifications.

If you could, once you get the setup, could you post temps with the stock cooler and then with the cooler you bought??? That would help me in determining whether or not to spend the money on aftermarket cooling.

Sure, will do, and I suppose I'll submit the order tomorrow if they get the ram in. If they don't by tomorrow I'm going to just get the PQI turbo 667mhz memory. Not the greatest rating but I have a set of DDR400 running at DDR474 right now so they're pretty darn good overclockers. with the e6400, if I can get any ram to 800mhz I'll be past my goal of 3ghz on the CPU.

PS: I am getting the e6400 to have the higher multiplier to avoid being ram limited.

I don't blame you for ordering the e6400. If it would've been under $200 when I ordered I probably would've done the same thing. I'll pick up a e6600 that will do 400 x 9 once the quad cores come out and people start upgrading.

Wait... I ended up getting the GA-965P-DS3 instead of the GA-965G-DS3. I heard the onboard video requires that Gigabyte lowers the overclocking ability of the G model to avoid damaging it or something to that effect. If that is what you have, that is probably your problem.

Supposedly this RAM will hit 900mhz with some voltage and looser timings with no problems.

You want the 965P-DS3, it will be faster. Granted if you were planning on using the onboard video, then you will now need a videocard, but who the hell uses crappy onboard video, unless its a granny email box. And if its a granny email box, you might as well have a P3 600Mhz in there.
