Im going to order my full WC setup this week and I need some final suggestions.

Pump is the danger den DD12V-D5 variable speed pump
Radiator is the PA120.3
Swiftech Micro Res w/ 0.5'' barbs - $20 @ Performance PC's
Thermaltake Flow TX Plus - $30 @ Performance PC's

Tubes im Not sure on nor which fittings Im going to need to buy extra

The only two items im running on the loop at this moment in time is a CPU and NB block.

Now Ive ruled out the DD MC-TDX in favor of the FuZion or EK supreme. I havent found any conclusive evidence between either, except for the fact a few people have stated that if you currently own the FuZion to keep it since the EK isnt that much better.
It will most likely be used to cool an e8400 or e8500 unless the q9450 shows amazing overclocking results.

Should I pick up the EK Supreme? It comes with a back plate and mounting hardware correct?

Next - I havent figured out which motherboard I am going to go with (P35/x38) but I will need a northbridge cooler for one of them. Will the Danger Den MPC Universal block fit on either or both?

Any more suggestions?

Don't know how I missed this the first time through... Hmm, let's see.

Use Masterkleer 7/16" tubing, over 1/2" barbs. A bit hard to get on (lube the tubes with a tiny bit of dish-soap/water to make them slide on easy).

Go with the Fuzion CPU block.

And, I can't really recommend a p35 board, but I really like the Asus x38 offerings.

Avoid the Supreme since I have heard many complaints that it is very restrictive and stick with what I suggested above. The tubing I suggested is what Im picking up and based on a review one site did of literally dozen of various makers and sizes and this is the one that came out on top. I suggest using distilled water from a local store and boil it... and then dip the ends of the tubing in it for about 30 seconds or so and then should be able to slip it onto the 1/2" barbs fairly easy. Using anything other then distilled water and your looking at contaminating your loop.
 
Maxx, never boil the entire tube, as it will turn bright white if it absorbs water :p.

But, There's no need to purchase Tygon tubing. Masterkleer is just as nice (Although not as clear initially, both get cloudy eventually) and is my preferred tubing, since it's softer, and can be "pseudo-moulded" by heating, bending, and submerging in ice water.
 
LOL, I said to dip the ends in boiling water... not the whole length of tubing. I know we aint boiling sausage HEHE

Here is my dilemma with your mobo suggestions.

First of all I was planning on going with the DFI x38 LT board for two reasons.

1) I want to screw around with all the amazing settings the DFI allows for and
2) The DFI LT board doesnt have a heatpipe system going from PWM >> NB >> SB.

If I went with the Asus Maximus formula, how am I suppose to watercool the NB without removing the sinks on the PWM and the SB since their all connected.

Will pick up the FuZion block. As for tubing, it was reccomended for me to go to home depot by wiretap(in person). He mentioned you could buy like 20 feet for like 10 bucks.

I cant answer your question concerning the heat pipes... Im new to all this (researching things for a few months now) plus Im planning on WC just about everything, so no worries for me in that regard. Im sure someone more informed will be happy to answer that one... can almost guess they will say not to be concerned with WC the NB and just opt for good air cooling.

I only suggested the ASUS Maximus because it is a very popular board as well as ASUS is considered one of the top leaders in motherboard manufacturers... and if you look into it, it has tons of features for playing around with.

Tubing... well I dont know about standard tubing from the Depot. I wouldnt think there would be a problem with it. But I think if you do opt for adding CPU + NB and possibly descide down the road to add anything else... the Tygon I suggested is thee best... its flexibility reduces kinking so its excellent for tight loops its also has good abrasion resistance and it also has a treatment to resist algae growth.
 
I know air cooling is fine for the PWM and SB. How can I reuse, or use any of the parts of the heatpipe cooler if I WC the NB?
 
I used the Depot pvc tubing for awhile in my first WC build, and while it's cheap, it's very stiff and a pain in the butt to use.
I picked up 15 feet of sexy red Primochill 1/2" tubing for $1 a foot and it is a joy to use. The company I got it from went out of business, but jab-tech has it for only $1.25 a foot.. worth every penny.
 
I'm still having trouble locating and verifying a Northbridge waterblock for the x38 chipset.

Can anyone provide information if the MPC-Universal block from danger den will fit. It seems as if the mounting holes are in the wrong posistion.

If 1,2,3,4 represent mounting holes around the NB

It seems as if the x38 NB mounts on using 2 pins in position's at 1 and 4.

The MPC mounts on 2 and 3.

I don't think it will fit.

Thanks for the question, we have just made a new X38 water block just for your board so if you can hold off just a week or so it will be up on our site.
The universal Chipest block will not fit the X38 boards.
