What's everyone's opinion of Final Fantasy XI? I just got the game like 2 days ago and I enjoy it greatly (although there are still things that I have yet to learn about, like crafting, fishing, etc). I am having a hard time trying to level (currently I am a level 6 Black Mage), and I can't seem to find what I should be fighting (I choosed Windurst as my faction). I am also having a money problem (people say sell the crystals but no one has bought them from me, I setup a bazaar right in front of the auction house in Windurst Walls(?))

I played it for a couple of months, and enjoyed it alot. If you search on google for final fantasy xi level guides, you'll find alot of useful information. Sell your crystals in stacks of 12 at the auction house. The last time i played a stack of fire crystals was selling for about 1200 on my server (Bismakr).

I played it for a month straight when it first came out a few months ago. It was fun but I didn't see myself playing almost 13 bucks to play it so I stopped.

Its fun for a while. But i tend to tire of these games after a month or 2. My biggest gripe with it was the interface. Menus are a bit unwieldly at times. Other then that its same level grind most other MMO's are.

BLM is one of the hardest classes to start out as. There is alot of solo time before you can start in a party. I'd say get to lvl 10 or 11 then start getting into a party. It is also a job that becomes very helpful in higher lvl's.

As for gil everyone has gil problems in the beginning especially mages. They need to buy spells instead of armor and weapons. And spells can be very pricey much higher than some armor pieces or weapons. Try doing some quests around the town you started out in (in your case Windurst). If you want, try killing bees outside of Windurst and collect (12)beehive chips, and sell them at the auction house. They sell rather quick, and for a good price I'm pretty sure of.

Here are a couple sites to help you with quests, missions, spells, armor, weapons, everything :p

And if you get into a party with some japanese members in it, don't be afraid you cant play with them, most of them are very nice and willing to party with you. Alot of japanese know english so there is definatly some communication. You can also use the auto-translate feature (TAB key). It's very easy to use and extremly useful later on in the game. I find myself using it constantly now even talking to english players. :D

Here is a site to help you with some Japanese phrases not in the auto-translate function...
