if you dont have any pantyhose lying around, what would a good material be to make an air filter out of?

The englishman in me insists on calling them Stockings/Tights.

Pantyhose? just sounds wrong.

Just head over to Home Depot and pick up some filter material, it's cheap as hell, well under a dollar. I got a 24 pack for $4. They have a huge selection, i purchased the one's that are meant for using in your rectangular heater vents in your house. They work really well, and are extremely cheap. They also dont' restrict too much airflow. The loss in airflow is worth it for the amount of dust they collect.

If you have cheese cloth you can use that. My mom had some so I used rubber bands to hold a piece in place on the back side of the fan. It works well.

just go to home depot and get some filter material like i did
