Is using plain old dryer sheets ok for filter material? Would seem airflow would be fine and its already antistatic? Just something I heard but wanted to see if anyone has done without a loss in airflow.

I used dryer sheets before, but the "fresh" smell gave me a headache after a while and they clogged up with dust pretty quickly. Now I use pieces of furnace filter in front of my radiator and between the case and the plastic face. You may not have room to fit this stuff where you want to put it though, it's substantially thicker than dryer sheet.

I use heating filters too. The stuff you put in the heat registers in the floor to protect from dust from going in. It's decently thick, but still lets a lot of airflow through.

It's probably the same stuff, but I use the ones that slide into the actual furnace between the return duct and the heat exchange chamber.

I use the thick furnace filters too... I just cut out a rectangle piece and open the front of my xaser2 (chenming etc.) and slide it in in front of the fans. I have a thin piece of filter matierial I just put over the side intake and the suction holds it on.

Between the two filters, I only lightly blow the case out every few months. I change the filters when I get about a 4F rise in temps.
