Hi All,

Thanks so much in advance. i'm working off a personal PC that i brought into work because i didnt want to use a MAC. Initally, with Windows XP operating, i had no problems finding the office's MAC that hosts Filemaker and we also use an off site server that hosts a patch that we use for Filemaker which i had no problem connecting too. Recently, i upgraded to Windows 7, and and now having troubles. Filemaker still sees the host computer, but doesnt see the hosted file. Also, i cant even begin to connect to the out of office server... im not super techy so i may not be using ideal terminology, but any help would be amazing. Thanks so much.

Your using it as a remote file, right? Is the hosted database on a share so you could browse it through the explorer? I'm fairly familur with FM 8.5 but don't have any experience with the later versions. I'm thinking it is a firewall thing. Make sure FileMaker is running as an exception in the firewall settings and report back.

Have you tried running the Filemaker in WindowsXP mode? A quick google search seems to be pulling up a lot of issues w/ FM and Win7

Looks like you need ver 10v3, and there are still some issues: http://www.filemaker.com/support/kb/?answers/detail/a_id/7454

Thanks everyone. Im using FM 10, which i did have running on XP before our offices got new PC with Win7 installed. The data file in need is on a remote server yes. But when i enter in the IP addy it doesnt allow me to select the file, it actually doesnt show anything. it has to be some sort of networking problem because i didnt have this issue on XP when they installed the Filemaker software

THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH. it was as simple as updating to FM 10v3 ... just some networking issues... works like a charm now : ) Time to pay it forward
