I plan on using either XP Professional or Vista Ultimate (undecided), and I am unsure of what file system to use. I am going to have a RAID 0 setup, but which file system would better suit me? NTFS or FAT?

ntfs, fat sucks and if it wasn't for compatibility issues it would be long dead.

Yeah pretty much ntfs hands down, I just did a fresh XP install last week and didn't even notice a place where you could format as FAT (unless you did previous to the install).

I didn't even know that Vista would allow you to install using FAT? With XP I believe there is the option when you first install, not that you could on these larger drives now a days.

I am sure that there are reasons for preferring FAT(32) over NTFS, however I cannot come up with any at the moment.

I am sure the reasons are for older, read archaic, programs or something that needs that type of file structure. If that is the case then it makes no sense to build a quad core proc with a program that can barely max out a P3 cpu.
