I've been thinking of setting up some sort of network storage at my house recently to store all the media (movies, music, etc) for my house. Right now i'm leaning toward setting it up on an old computer for cost reasons, though that $600 4 drive box one of the companies makes is real appealing too.
My main question with doing any of this is file systems. I want the drives to be able to be read and written to from os x on my mac book pro, and also from win xp on the other pc's in the house.
I know this can be done with fat32... but fat 32 seems to have awful fragmentation issues among other limitations. Is there a file system i could setup and use with less drawbacks that both windows and mac would have full file access on (read and write) ?
