File Server Build -- Sanity Check

I've got an ESX Server liscense and am curious what impact running a virtual host as a file server would be. Maybe there'd be an issue with other virtual hosts trying to interact with the storage?

Anyhow, here are the componenets I'm considering:

That's the meat... I'm sure no one's interested in case, memory, etc...

Due to brand loyality I'd like to stick with AMD processors. I'm also considering a Tyan board.
