I inherited a rubbish file server 4 years ago and up to now I have just kept it going but it's the last thing that need upgrading (We have gone from NT4 to 2003 AD, Notes to Exchange, New Citrix environment etc over the last year) on the network.

Anyway the file currently has about 400gb of data stored on it but most of this is years old and I want to start fresh with only data from the past year on the new server (the old data will be archived and available when needed if at all)

So is there any software which I can run on the server to find out files which have not been accessed in a year, file sizes etc?

Also has anyone setup a fileserver using Active Directory security policies?

Check out dirsync. This is going to be the best $20 you spent on software this year, as it will do what you need and a whole lot more.

on reading your post a second time, I realized you just wanted a list of files.. Dirsync will not do that, but if you setup a duplicate job from old server to new you can specify a dateframe for files to be copied.
