I have a folder that contains various text files. The files are using different extensions (e.g. txt, log, prg, asp, fsp and etc).

I need a freeware file searcher than can do the job. I tried the built-in search in XP explorer but it seems it only looks at certain extensions.

Any suggestions/ideas?

Thank you :)

If it were a *nix system I'd tell you to use grep. However your in luck, as someone ported grep, among other useful shell utilities, to win32.

You can also use 'find' in the Windows command prompt, however I'm not sure how good it is.

It's called Windows Vista! I'm not kidding by the way.

If your on XP, you can download Windows Search 4.0 from Windows Update. It does exactly what you want.
