FIIO E9/E7 combo question

Hi everyone, I just got the FIIO E9/E7. I use this combo for the my laptop to the M-AUDIO CX5.
I connected laptop with the FIIO through USB. For the speaker CX5, I use 1/4 TRS-RCA cable to connect it DIRECTLY to the RCA output behind the FIIO. And I found out that the speaker get distortion sound. I wonder what cause that problem?

PS: I follow every set up in the FIIO guide EXCEPT I didn't connect the speaker to the "MINI HIFI AMPLIFIER" before connect it to the FIIO as in the guide. I thought the FIIO E9 is the amplifier by itself? Is that correct?

The CX5 has its own amp inside so no other amp is needed. Try the 1/8" pre-out on the back of the E9. If you don't have the cable or adapter for that then try connecting it to a TV or anything with a RCA audio output that isn't amped. BTW, can you describe the distortion in more detail?
 
Sorry for late reply, i think i found the problem. I think it's because of the power supply of my laptop that cause interference and distortion. When i unplug it, no distortion. So how can you give me some advices about this? What should i do? Do i have to unplug the power supply and use laptop battery when i listen to music?

FWIW try different power outlets on separate breakers both in your house and off site (school/work/friends house/etc.) and see if the problem persists. Generally a power conditioner wouldn't help in this area, but I'd give it a shot if using different outlets don't solve the issue.
