figuring power efficiency with two power supplies

Your math is good, but your source of numbers is not.

Linear power supplies don't have 90% efficiency. They're rarely even 80%. So I wouldn't expect that one to be any different.
 
Wow. 90% typical?

We need to have someone test that. ;)
