Normally I work with SFP GBICs in ethernet switches, so I'm in uncertain waters here...

I need to know if SFP GBICs are SFP GBICs regardless of function. I have a storage solution from HP (MSA 1500) that uses GBICs and I'm wondering if all GBICs, regardless of use (Ethernet/FibreChannel) are interchangeable. Anyone out there have a good idea?


Since this is both a storage and a networking question, I'm posting in each forum.
