hey All, im kinda new to the Forum, Just had a question reguarding the mounting of the Swiftech GT Waterblock.

Currently im using it with a AMD opteron 170 D/c clocked at 3ghz. But the AMD mounting system is only 2 holes.

im upgrading to a Intel 790i system in the next week and, im wondering if This.

I plan on it going against the back of the motherboard threaded side towards the socket, then on the socket side of the motherboard, a black rubber washer, a metal washer, a nut on each of the posts, to hold the backing plate in tight. then the waterblock, another washer, a spring, a washer and a thumb screw in that order.

Btw i plan on useing it with 4 screws, incase anyone is wondering. (other two are holding my AMD from Exploding in a big hot ball of last generation 3ghz'ness)

new build is a EVGA 790i motherboard, Zalman 1000-HP 1000w PSU, 2x2x2GB of ddr2 1066, e8400 cpu, and 2x250gb SATA3.0 in raid 0.
Along with the 8800gts that is currently Watercooled in my case.
It will be replacing a NF4 Ultra-d DFI lanparty UT (SLI-d mod) BFG 800w PSU 2x1gb of DDR1 500 2x120gb sataI drives in raid0

If that x-bracket is the proper one for an LGA775 socket, then I see no reason why it wouldn't work providing you mount it properly.
 
Im almost 100% sure its the proper bracket for a 775 socket, as it came with the Swiftech gt and that supports 775socket, so im sure that that aspect of it will work but as far as the means of mounting, i have the screws locked in from the back, is this ok or should i go about it differently

I was looking at it like it would be easiest if the screw's stayed stationary, and the thumb screws where used to tighten the waterblock down. im fairly new to the intel scene, but from what iv seen the bracket doesnt usualy function in the manor im using it in, but it was just a question of would it work as i have designed it, or should i re think it.

Anyone think a DD 3x120 Blackice rad with a Swiftech mcp-650, swiftech GT cpublock (cooling a e8400) , and a Ek 8800gts block'd 8800gts 640mb (overclocked to its limits with a small voltage mod, and bios shader tweak) , no resivior, using a fillport. will handle the new processor?
 
The screws should be inserted from the top of the motherboard down through it and into the bracket behind the board. That is the only correct way to install it.
