I am purchasing a house this week and will be wiring up some cat6 around the house after I move in.

I only have 1Gb speed hardware right now. A few computers and a freenas box and pfsense router.

I'd like to future proof when installing the cable, so I want it to be able to support a full 10GB. I know Cat6 can do 10GB, but at a reduced distance compared to cat6a.

Does any body have any suggestions on cable to run through the house?

Monoprice cat6a shielded? 1000FT Cat6a 650MHz FTP Solid, Riser Rated (CMR), 23AWG Bulk Ethernet Bare Copper Cable - Blue - GENERIC - Monoprice.com

Thanks!

Don't get shielded cable unless you can be sure you can keep properly grounded end to end shielding on every connectiion.

I have used the monoprice cat6 cables and I have had no problems with them It works well and was reasonably priced at 118 dollars. I think if you are doing a house wiring, Your runs shouldn't be that long so using cat 6 should be fine. I think future proofing is a good Idea. It all depends on your budget and what your planning on doing. I always try to get the most bang for my buck when I priced my network install. I bought the best equipment with what budget I had.

I wouldn't, didnt see it linked the stranded. I'm looking at their CMR solid and wondering if its going to serve me just as well as if I were to track down a local distrbutor selling Belden or the like.

From what I understand, you want solid for in-wall/permanent (ex: anything going to patch panels or jacks) and you want stranded for making patch cords. I've had good luck with Monoprice cat6. Can't vouch for the cat6a but it's probably good too. Can't beat their prices even after the $200+ shipping cost and customs.
