Feedback for my mid-range system?

I'm building a system for a buddy - he wants mid-range (the performance/value sweetspot)

What do you guys think?

You could always use a PSU with more power just to be safe. I don't have any experience with Enermax, but Antec PSUs are never a bad idea.

The 9800 Pro is a good card, but others would argue that an nVidia 6800 would be a better investment for the future, and that they benchmark better for the next generation PC games.

3.5" 1.44MB floppies are nearing obsoletion. Just get a 128MB+ USB key. They're getting a lot cheaper. I just got a SanDisk 256MB Mini Cruzer for $29.99.

I'm not sure if you're gonna overclock anything, but if you aren't, and you're paying over $200 for that Corsair RAM, find some cheaper sticks.

Ever tried the Logitech MX700 Duo (keyboard and mouse)? If not, check it out. You might be more interested in it than the Microsoft.

As for your CPU heatsink, some people would recommend the Thermaltake Venus 12 or a Thermalright heatsink.



Just some things to consider. I'm about to buy an A64 system, and I've been changing and switching hardware a lot. There are just so many choices now, that it's hard to be completely sure.

Read all the reviews you can of hardware you may buy.

Yea, I'm sure we'll end up doing some overclocking, so I think we'll stick with the decent RAM.
