Just want to drop a note in the archives regarding the new Fedora 8 linux distro. It's getting good reviews, but when I tried to install it on my new Dell Vostro 200, the install would freeze on 'Installing SCSI Loading ata_piix driver.'

The solution is to press tab before starting the installation at the screen the disc loads first so that you can add kernel options, and add 'irqpoll' as a option by typing it in as one of the arguments. This solves the problem. Felt like sharing.:D

Wouldnt work for me...

I'm trying to load FC8 on VMware. I had to burn the boot.iso to another cd. Someone said that would work as long as I had the rest of it on a separate dvd. Once it gets to the Loading ata_piix driver it freezes. There are a ton of commands out there that are supposed to fix it... but none do.
