FED no more

SED was the better version of the technology anyway, and now that SED is out of its legal nightmare, it might start gaining some progress again now.

This is a blow.

With OLED, I see burn in as the big killer, keeping it out of desktop monitors indefinitely.

FED/SED use Phosphor and should be as robust as CRT. Since the FED guys were going to roll with a 20" pro monitor first, I thought they might be a candidate for Montior usage first.

While SED finally cleared the pointless legal quagmire, they may be nearly dead because of it. Missing their window of opportunity. Plasma/LCD is so cheap now that SED will appear to expensive to get off the ground.

Check back in 4 or 5 years...

OLED reminds me of Arthur C Clarke when he talks pocket screens that are like a handkerchief you put in your pocket and lay out on a table. I think The next stuff will someday be like this.

OLED is also far more promising so no tears here.

far more promising? you mean regarding the manufacturing process
otherwise if you´re talking about picture quality, FED has better quality
