Anyone getting texture shimmering in FEAR? I'm using CAT 6.3+chuck.

AA and AF are set to app preference (HQ AF enabled) and mip maps set to max.
To be honest I've noticed more texture shimmering with my x1900xt than with my old 7800GT set to High Quality mode...

Just wondering if anyone knows anything about this

both can produce shimmering however, it is known that nvidia has more of the shimmering problem then the ati as a whole. If "your card" has it maybe a "limited experience". Since you have both cards just take the one back and be happy with the 7800GT. This type of discussion will never offer any solution to problems like this until it is addresssed in a Cat release. My opinion to you is learn to be proactive by submitt a ticket to ATI with screenshots explaining the problem instead of posting "my 7800GT is better then a x1900xt" in a ATI forum. . That way you are helping the ATI community. The reason for this suggestion? To be honest you didn't need to add what the 7800 can or can't do in your OP as it offers no importance to a solution to "your problem".

lol

I'm sorry -- I kinda piled on things I wanted to say. I only have this problem in FEAR.
There's no way in hell I'm going back to a 7800 gt just for fear. I'm perfectly happy with my x1900.

BTW, I am using 16xAF... kinda weird. Driver problem, maybe? Anyone else getting this?

If you can wait a few more days Cat 6.5 will be out. Once released, you can see if the problem is still there. From what I read shimmering is more of a hardware problem then mere driver problem alone. The cats have a more direct control over the hardware then their competitor, this why you need to submit a ticket to ATI address the problem instead of posting "who here has this problem also" because it doesn't address the solution, submitting a ticket to ATI will.
If you noticed, after 27 views no one posted they have a problem like yours.

thanks. but talk about talk about tough love...you an army drill sergeant?

Ummm...

Try High Quality AF. It's been known that Adaptive AA is responsible for shimmering. More so on nVIDIA hardware then ATi but either can cause this.

High Quality AF should fix it.

You can try disabling Catalyst AI and see if it goes away, but be warned it may effect your performance.

I finally had enough time to get a pic to show you folks.

I usually don't mind so much except it's kinda glaring.

Here's a pic but you should see it in motion :(
