FE3R patch incoming

Wow, nice patch details. Even a .cfg file to fix FOV. :)

Yeah, seems like you can disable motion blur now. Stuck at work, so can't try myself, but you should be able to edit it now.

Looks like patch has issues. Doh!

You deserve to hear it from me first. The patch just got rolled back. We got some reports that rank and profile information was reset after playing with the patch and we're not taking any chances. I'll update more when I know more.

OK, that's odd... guess that's why I just saw F.3.A.R. update twice, then?

Hope they re-release it soon! Cant wait to adjust the FOV and kill the motion blur.

I absolutely love the fact that the devs are really showing some serious respect to PC gamers!

Yup, they rolled it back. The 2nd patch is to revert it back to its original state.

At least they're quick!

Man, that's more dedication for PC gamers than I've seen in a long time. The patch was released extremely shortly before they rolled it back, which means they're staying on-top of things.

Man, we need more devs like this...

I would prefer devs who allow us to alter FOV, motion blur, and stuff like that from day 1 rather than have to patch it in but I guess there are worse devs out there also.

What? devs that put out a bad patch and remove it quickly?

Yeah, like Dan said in the other thread, this should have been all included with the shipped game, but at least the developer has been very quick to act on it, which is good.

I installed UT3 today and I noticed that it had settings for both of those features in there.

That's the way it used to be. So many features used to be standard. Now excuse me while I drink myself into nostalgia.

Does this mean loss of save because that's what it looks like happened to me here. My save is gone at least in game.

Where are the save games for Fear 3 stored?

It should have. That's a great help there but in my case, for whatever reason, even though I have System Restore on there are no previous versions of user.cfg so I guess I'm sunk.

Ah well, I wasn't TOO far into the game but gee whiz.

Doh, sorry to hear. :(

Ha, no... but at least they caught it quickly, which is more than I can say most developers these days even bother with.

I do agree that the features with FOV etc. should have been included from the get-go, but again, at least they're going back and adding a good amount of features for what people want.

Given the way PC gamers are treated these days, while I don't consider it a "gift" as Crytek would have us see it :)rolleyes:), again, at least these guys are making an effort.

Doh, sorry to hear. :(

Strange that it could even happen like that but oh well.

Exactly.

Just saw this posted on the F.E.A.R forum. Looks like an updated patch might come sooner than later.

The patch is being updated at the moment. It was rolled back due to an unforeseen issue.

You all have been incredibly patient thus far and we truly appreciate while you bear with us as we get the last touches in.

Patch is back up again!

The patch is live again.

We're still sorting out the details of what went wrong, but to anyone who suffered a loss of profile data, I can only say how deeply embarrassed and sorry we are. There has been some great advice posted on using Windows system restore to restore the trashed profile, and we're investigating other ways to restore rank and progress for everyone else.

Once again, I'd like to say the response on this forum has been amazing. You guys have been a true source of inspiration for everyone I've talked to who has been working long hours on this project.

Anyone try the new patch? Everything feels so much better now. No more jittering, no more motion blur, and editable fov.

Nice they're fixing stuff, it does beg the question why this wasn't done at launch.

Usually the safest answer: Hard launch date that had to be met come hell or high water.

At least these guys are actually trying and communicative which deserves props.

Exactly.

For anyone at this point to show that kind of support for PC gamers, whether released "late" or not, has got to be respected at this point, since there's hardly a dev anymore that does so.

I love what the patch offers as well. Changed my FOV, was automatically set with no motion blur, and though even the second release of it blew-out my saves, I don't mind... I'll gladly go through the game another two times, once with each character, since changing the FOV and killing the motion blur, made quite the difference.

Sure, not the "most fantastic" game in the world, but definitely addictive fun, especially playing as Fettle.

Tell you what: It was worth losing my save to get that FOV fixed. I set it to 110 in that .cfg file on a 16:10 monitor and it's WAY better.

Kudo to the F3AR devs. Far from perfect, but at least they did not Crytek the whole game in the ass.

I love FOV patches. I love games that dont lock or dick around with the FOV better.
