Fax-Copier suggestions

I dont know which forum this belongs in, but since is one of the few forums I do here goes-

My University department wants to purchase a new fax-copier with the following needs:
1. Sub 500
2. Regular paper and toner
3. A Warranty

HP And Dell both sell them in that range. I'd probably say HP over the Dell because Dell makes you buy toner from them and nobody else. Usually you can get a good deal on HP recycled carts.

HP Laserjet 3015 This one's under $300



HP Laserjet 3030 This one squeaks in just under $500.

The lady wants it connected to the network, Why would you want this? Can you do this

Buy the one I got. I love it. Though it's not laser-- it's ink. But still, it can be networked as well. Does everything for you too.

Why network? So you can have 100 computers on one network to have access to one printer. All of them can go get their printed stuff in one location.

I understand the purpose for printers. They are currently using a networked printer, but i was trying to under the purpose of a networked Fax machine

Ohh, well. I quite honestly don't understand why exactly they need a *networked fax machine* but the only idea I can come up with is the ability to send/receive faxes and to also have it held on a server so any computer that is networked to the fax can receive it within a request. That's getting a bit tad silly. A waste of money if you will, unless it's a very large structural complex requiring high productivity ( )...

Well, any printer can be shared over a network. Unless she's wanting to put the machine in a spot that's nowhere near a server or workstation. But here's the Dell model I mentioned earlier that just might foot the bill:

Dell 1600n

Starts at $399, and you can get next business day onsite service for them I beleive.

To be honest I think she is lazy, If our VP can walk to the fax machine and hand fax (or at least his office staff) then she can too
