- Port to Ip and Mac mapping
- Topology Mapping
- Configuration management
- Fairly intuitive and good looking web interface
- Easy install and configuration. (some of the underlying configuration is NOT web based, but it's only 2-3 files.)
- Monitoring /alerting
- Built in graphing, as well as the ability in integrate Cacti.
- OUI vendor recognition

Well worth a try. Think of it as a poor mans Solarwinds.

2 new tools I have found, both free

Visionapp - great for RDP connections to multiple servers. Scales to size of vision app window and allows for per server settings (i.e. console) http://www.visionapp.com/freeware.html

Netcure Discovery - Network Discovery and mapping. Useually the free versions of these tools are crap, but this one did a really good job. http://www.rocketsoftware.com/products/netcure

Well, you know. We touched all the good tools, but ping is still probably used more than nmap -sP

A number of people mentioned Crimson Editor... I used that for ages, but it hasn't been updated in years... I've switched to Notepad++ (free). Very nice free text editor... (there's even a version for Portable Apps for those of you who use a Portable Apps USB stick).
