I was looking to an article http://www.hardwarezone.com/articles/print.php?cid=10&id=693
and I saw that FAT32 benchmarks is faster than NTFS I never thought of that.

I guess that older file system should be faster than the new ones. So does anyone seen an extensive benchmark comparing the two file system?

Because if it makes my loading time faster I would reformat and install on FAT32. even if I lose some security feature and capacity limit ( FAT32 has a limit of about 15GB max size) this means that my laptop would be a lot faster because right now the loading time is killing me because of disk IO.

Going to fat32 would not speed up the system that much. You'd see the same difference if you formated to ntfs again because you'd be running on a fresh install.

I'd keep NTFS.

Do a good defrag and you'll notice a huge differene. I know I do when I defrag my laptop.

would i gain any performence boost if I place the paging file on FAT32 system or even FAT16 ?

Short answer is no. The difference would be too small to notice

You might notice a tiny difference, but NTFS is a much better file system, stick with it.
