I used to have a K6-2 550 running at 660 back in the day.. with 120mhz FSB

Anybody else ever get any higher?
 
Had a K6-3 450 at like 500 or 530 I forget that thing is too old to remember...but it is still around the house somewhere.............
 
I have an Asus P5A as my backup rig, The Warez Warrior...not really, but it has been to the underbelly of the net, so to speak. :D I digress. It has a 400 K6-3 @ 550. A couple of years ago a beta bios was released. I put it on so that I could use a large HD, but then I discovered that it opened up the fsb. Mine runs way high for a K6. I would have to check to be certain, but I'm pretty sure it is over 140.

EDIT: I checked it. 147mhz :eek:
 
damn, i used to have a K6-2 400mhz on an Asus P5A as well! And to think i ran at stock for its lifespan...i'm ashamed, don't look at me. But then again, i didn't even know what FSB was. I wish i still had her, now...she served me well for the shit i gave 'er.
 
I got my 400K6-2 up to 550. I knew a guy that got one up to 800, I don't know what his default speed was though, probably a 500.
 
I had my K6-3 at 500 and my k6-2 at 550, I guess that is a average OC since these did not oc that well...
 
id like to see the benchmarks of that compared to some p2's and p3's :)
 
I've got on in the other room with an SK7 on it. It can do 112*5.5, 100*6.5, or 124*5.

Modern rigs will come and go, but the P5A stays. It's a legend. I actually use mine, although I own six more modern rigs...

I don't know from any Pentiums, but you can OC the ever-loving shit out of a pair of Celerons with a BP6!

I had a K6-2 400 at 550 on a PC-Chips 585LMR board. I still have that board. I just need a case that the board actually fits properly to still be able to use it. Which I'd love to do. That computer was great! Onboard everything, stable like a champ. I kinda miss it. I might have to look into a case, ram, and powersupply and resurrect it from the storage area.

Oh yeah, I had to replace the 400 processor with a 550 because I bent a pin while trying to remove the heatsink to replace a dead fan.
 
You know guys, we had a lot fun in the old days. That was when overclocking was only for cowboys. I suppose that's us. ;)

Yep, and there was no Swiftech, Zalman, etc., etc. We used to try to fit anything to anything. That's why I own a rig with a wire tied Alpha. ...bad idea that actually works for some unknown reason. :D
 
I remember thinking... man... I smell something burning... and then tried pulling the heatsink off with my hand and getting that burned feeling... Plugging the PC back in with the fan back on about 30 minutes later praying that it still worked. It was gone. The funny thing is, is that I actually marked the time of death on the case and the processor. As well as the reason why. I have no clue why I did that.
 
i never like the whole super socket 7 motherboards tho. back when i built my first pc it was between a super7 board an a k6-2 400 or a celeron 433. i ended up going with a used bx board and the celeron 433, i ran the 433@590 :D
 
k6 2 500 @ 550 , thats all it would do , thanks i think to that horrible sis530 chipset
 
Mwahaha, my P2 450 @ 500 will smoke your K6-2s :)

Eh Intel has lost their game these days so who cares :eek:
