I'm putting together a new system and will be putting in 1G of Ram, dual channel. I'm wondering if I'm better of getting PC3200 of the higher quality for lower latencies, or PC3700 - PC4000 with higher latencies? Corsair twinX PC3700PT goes for a lot less than CMX PC3200 over at newegg. I may do some minor overclocking.

The system will be a:
P4 2.8C
P4C800-e deluxe or IC7 Max 3

Thanks!

If you plan on OCing the hell out of it, you're gonna want some pc4000ish, or you could get some low latency stuff like corsair XL that easily OC's to 250mhz with looser timings.

There are just so many options when it comes to memory it has me quite uncertain. I know going with cheap memeory is stupid and I'm not going to do that. I just don't want to get something that I don't need either.

Thanks for the advice. I figured that I should go for something that I could push the timings a little more, but being a rookie, I really wasn't sure. Thanks!

I have 2 x 512 Hyper X PC4000's and 2 x 256 XMS3200LL's. I really like running the Corsair at ~210mhz (using 5:4) and 2-2-5 timings instead of my hyperX at 250mhz (1:1) 3-3-7. It feels much faster until a program needs to load more than 512MB.
