Alright, this is probably one of those "it is what it is" things, but I'm not sure why. I have a WRT610N and am operating on the lower 2.4ghz bandwidth. For some reason I am able to achieve MUCH higher download speeds via programs like Steam than I am transfer speeds between computers. I have a desktop hardlined to the router that acts as my file and media hub, so no problem there. The problem is when I go wireless. On this laptop I can achieve regular download speeds between 500kb/s and 1mb/s, yet when I transfer files from the hardlined computer I can only achieve max transfer speeds of about 270kb/s and it just will not go any faster? What's going on here? Why is it that downloading a file from the internet is/can be so much faster than my wireless transfer speeds?
I can provide additional info if it'd help identify the problem. Thanks.
