First off - [H]ard|Forum Rocks!

I'm making a new case mod for a dorm room, I posted a thread for the internals in the AMD forum. I'm trying to make a watercooled system with the option of overclocking later if my comp gets too slow. Being new to water cooling, I thought I'd ask for the advice of the experts here at HardForum.

Order of preference:
Silent > low maintence > clean (no dust) > cold > cost

a hard drive cooler is not necessary, but it will help some in your quest for silence by quiting the drive itself and by removeing the heat it generates, so that you can use less fans or use quieter ones for the rest of heat removal. If your strapped for $$ i'd hold off on the HD, but if money is no problem then go for it.

for no dust, you'll either have to have a completely closed system, (no air in or out) which can be done, but takes quit a bit of engineering in order to remove heat from case.

or for what intake airflow you'll have you'll need to filter it.

as far as reservoir most will suit your purpose, it's a matter which ones you like.

On rads you will want a minimum of 2 x 120mm on one side, so the rad needs to hold at least 2 120mm fans side by side on one side of it.

if you want to save a little $$ get yourself a heater core, specifically this one HERE - it can be had for about $18 at autozone, and is very effecient. If you want one of these "ready made" for you then see this thread here

I don't think it's absolutely neccesary to have a dual 120mm radiator. A single 120 with a good fan performs admirably, even with a modern GPU and dual CPU's. That heatercore coupled with a Panaflo (L1 or M1) of your choice should be fine. You could go for even higher CFM if you use a fan controller.

Reservoir is up to you, do you want something nice to look at or made of plexi? Do you want something functional like the Swiftech bayres or, do you want a T-Line instead?

The WW is a great block, if you are interested in a triple barb block. My experience is they are harder to work with since you must use a Y somewhere in the loop. The TDX is much easier to install and route tubing.

I'd look at a Swiftech or WaterChill solution as they come ready to go!

Im kinda going for looks over efficiency, I might cut a window in the side. However, efficiency is important too.

What are some cool things you guys have done with WC?
 
If you want cool looking then check out the aqua computer gear, looks so bad ass its untrue, and they do make completely passive systems (no fans at all) but that requires a bloody huge radiator (think size of the side of your case at least)

Now thats another history, if you want good looking gear, Aqua Computer is the way to go, no doubt. Take a look in the Aqua Computer thread, there are some sexy photos of these stuff and you can look at the works of Avvidigi... he makes some great looking pcs. Also theseeker is building a new aqua computer system from the scratch... follow the post Aqua2 for see some photos.

If you want to buy Aqua Computer, sharka is your place... www.sharkacorp.com ... you said you don't have problems with the money, so get a Cuplex XT (block), AquaStream, AquaTube with aquajet if you want with an aquabay or just with an mounting bracket, Airplex EVO 360 or wait till the 240 come from germany and some plug'n'cool tubing.
