Fast 5Ghz Ad-hoc network

I would like to connect 2 computers at a distance of ~8 meters with only a wall in between. Sustained real life performance should be 100+ Mbps. Obviously I cannot run an ethernet cable.

Now, a Linksys E4200 coupled with a 3 antenna adapter like the TEW-684UB should work like a champ but burning 220+ euros on an ad-hoc connection like that isn't optimal (I already have a 2.4ghz wireless ADSL router).

Is there another way to do this?

Any particular reason you can`t run a cable? Obviously, that`s the best, quickest and most simple solution but you`ve said you can`t run a cable, just wondering why that is?

Don`t think there`s a chance you`re going to see that sort of sustained throughput on that 2.4Ghz router. I don`t suppose there`s any chance it`s an N device is there? Even 150N, I don`t think you`d see sustained 100Mbs.

You do know you can go up to 100 metres on ethernet don`t you, so even if it wouldn`t be a direct 8m run, you could go up to 100 metres of cable (remembering to count any patching you may do).

Just a thought..
