Farcry on DVD

Are PC games on DVD region formatted? Also, are there any differences between them and the US version?

I am quite confident their are identical really.

FarCry DVD has some compatability issues with certain drives tho... be-warned!

yup...i couldnt play it until i got a no CD patch for it. It kept saying that i hade CD/DVD emulation software installed....i was a bit annoyed about that...i dont expect to have any issues with software that i have paid a fair sum for...

Region coding is only applicable to DVD-Video. There is no set format for region coding data discs.

Ah, there's a fairly decent way to tell through their IP address.

Yea if u want to know the city he lives in.

Not sure where your from but my city has more than one person.. So good luck with that.

I think most IP's are logged to user by the ISP. The ISP will have records of where the usre lives for billing purposes. So yes with the IP address of the user and the correct time frame and of course some "insider" info from the ISP it is more than possible to find out where someone lives.

Man, I want to live where you are. I'm the only one in my city. Makes the city sponsered LAN parties somewhat dull, but I'm the beauty contestant winner 8 years straight. Just wish I hadn't taken 2nd place 9 years ago - I still think that contest was rigged.

There are other methods to go along with that. Most people use the same handle over and over again with only slight variations. You can check AOL directories as well.

In any case, do a Google search on dcho and you actually come up with a full name. Don't know if that's him or not, but if you put enough pieces together and you can usually find someone.

Or some good social engineering. Read Kevin Mitnick's book on the subject.

Back to the original topic - I have Far Cry on DVD and it does not have any region encoding on it (that I could tell). Video DVD's are a different story though as they do have region encoding on them. I did have to run the No CD patch to get it to run after installing it though. I still cannot believe that CryTeck/Ubisoft made the decision not to sell it on DVD here in the states but sell it that way in the UK and Europe.
