It still works but any small text and details are all blocked and fuzzy. Does anyone know if Interage has RMA?

it most likely overheated it.
get a new cooler to see if that helps, if not, RMA.

yeah, see if you can't try that, are you sure the fan on your 5200 was functioning properly?

have you contacted nVidia or the manufacturer's tech. support about it?

BTW, see my sig ;)

I think that the better choice of title would have been, "Farcry put my 5200 out of its misery"
seriously though, check the fan, try reinstalling the drivers, but don't replace the cooler before RMA'ing, you will void the warranty and won't be able to get it replaced

A number of 5200's come without fans, so if your case doesn't have good airflow .. dead card.

Sue Crytek, for the price of the card, plus emotional pain ($400) and get a x800XT or 6800 Ultra.

:)

lol, i didnt have a fan on it but i put one on it, ill try later to see if it overheated. I emailed interage to see what they would do about it.

I think it would be funny for Interage to shoot back an email saying Warrantee void due to running high performance game (AKA Farcry). But seriously, I hope you get it working or get an RMA on it.

i hope so too, this one sucked at ocing (it wasnt oc'd at the time it died) mebbe ill get a better one.:)

Yep, you might have fried it.
When are we going to see hardware monitoring for the temps on vid cards??? Hello Nvidia/ATI anyone home?

You could always use a thermal camera to check the temps. Like this:

That reminds me of the first 3D polygon game ever made... Damned if I remember the name of it.

WHOA  .....ya something is definitly wrong there, i've never heard of playing a normal game frying a video card though, even one without a fan.....could it be a driver issue? i don't have much experience in driver problems, because mine have always worked perfectly, just a thought, because once again ive never heard of playing a game normally frying a card.

This is pretty much what it does

Oh shit that looks like the original starfox in the backround. haha. Sorry I know I shouldn't be laughing but yeah like everyone else said try reinstalling the drivers. If worse comes to worse, try formatting. I'd do that before even rma'ing. Good luck :)

hahaha thats what I would have said lol :D

Seriouslyt though I dont think even almighty far cry could "damage" a graphics card, on the bright side you can get something better than the curse which is the Fx5200 ;) :D

Only way is it keeping the card under load and the card over heating.
Simply put except under very special condision software cant damage hardware.

Special condiotns would be malware made to change you res and refresh over and over for a extended period of time or malware tstoping your cpu fan as we all know it is possible to adjust cpu fan speed by software so removeing any safe gaurds in such a program could allow a virus to turn off your fan out right.

But its highly unlikly that a game would do any of these things other than loadign the vid card up to 100% useage awith a dead/nofan same for cpu as well.

Is farcry the only program having these anomalies? When I read the first post, I got the impression that it was the windows desktop that had blurry text. If it is only farcry that is having the problem, it may be some configuration problems. I would uninstall the game and reinstall it and see what that does.

Maybe these are the new nVidia driver optimizations? :p
23 fps in farcry on a 5200 aren't half bad.

It does it in all games except CounterStrike. Windows is fine nothing is blurry. Only in bigger 3D games.

just downloaded the farcry demo...wow awesome game :D

sorry for the large pic...

Dude I'd check your drivers...do an uninstall via Windows Control Panel - Add/Remove. And then run some sort of detonator destroyer program to strip out anything left over (check guru3d.com). Then do a fresh install (After restarting of course) of the latest WHQL Dets from nvidia.com You could also try reinstalling directX but I doubt that has anything to do with it. It honestly sounds very familar to a setting being messed up on mipmap levels or lowquality filtering.

PS -personally though, Id probally be tempted to use this as an excuse to get something better (anything... even a Radeon 8500 or a Geforce4 Ti would be faster....but if u want to hold on to that card for a bit..id say follow the above procedure)

P.P.S- and you have tried manually setting the quality of the game to high (under custom in the video section) and saving that right ?

Well first off a 5200 isn't really fast enough to play Farcry well. Secondly there are alot of driver issues with v1.0 of Farcry and certain Nvida 60 series drivers.

Patch Farcry to v1.1 and try some different Nvidia drivers. If your card still works fine in Windows and other games it's not dead. If it doesn't work fine in Windows and other games it's likely screwed.

yea if the video card was fried i dont think it would be working right now. more or less sounds like a software bug.

umm i play farcry with everything on medium and its more than playable.

Even playing on my GF 4 Ti 4200 I can play everything on med at 1024x768x32... it gets choppy sometimes, but it still looks decent. I can't wait to get my X800 XT though, what a world of difference it will be from the GeForce 2 Ultra I was used to for the past 3-4 years! Finally, it will be my Athlon 3200+ that is the weak point, not a horrible video card!

Seems to be software related...I've seen this when switching Pixel Shader versions in Halo. Looks like PS1.1 to me. I'd guess it is a DirectX problem.
