Hello,

I'm trying to get better farcry performance out of my 6800GT(@ 400/1050) /Athlon 2312mhz athlon-xp(185*12.5). I run at 1600x1200 @ 32 bit color, 4xaa, 8xaf and I get around 20-45fps with every detail set to max in the video options.

Would I be better off trying to get a vidcard that overclocks better ( I have one coming on rma) or getting a better cpu?

Rob

With a gig of RAM and a 6800GT I'd say that your next step is A64 (since your already runnin' that AXP-M at 2.3G). A nice 2800+ or 3000+ with a good board will get you some niec headroom for OC'in and would give you more of a FPS boost than trying to find a higher OC'in GPU... IMHO.

CPU without a doubt! I'm actually surprised you are getting fps that high at that detail level with a "relatively slow" cpu.

I would also recommend an A64, but I would probably go with at least a 3000+ since they are only about $20 more than a 2800+. If you have the cheese a 3500+ or 3700+ is the way to go.
