I am having a problem with Far Cry crashing my whole system. I played the game for 5 days and had zero issues. I lose all video and the computer reboots. I have tried downgrading my video card drivers which had no effect. I also tried running the game at a lower setting, which I should not have to do with the specs listed above, with no avail. I play the multiplayer version with no issues. Any thoughts, suggestions, and/or similar experiences?

Is your 6800GT on it's own power lead? Not sharing power with any other device?

I have a PCI Express card and it has its own power cord from the PSU

failing ram and/or componets on the motherboard.

Test the ram for errors. Parts DO go bad from time to time.

What is your PSU? Do you have the 'automaticly reboot' disabled so you can actually see a BSOD?

Otherwise I'd blame the ram/mobo. Try less agressive timings for your memory/lower fsb.

Take the side off the computer and get a big fan and blow it inside.
sounds like heat.
is the video card fan spinning?

BUT then you say
I play the multiplayer version with no issues
man thats weird...is this all settings on high and still won't crash?

I just buy a new system every time I have an error....

can you say BS?
I knew you could.

Have you done the good old uninstall and reinstall of the game? I was having a problem with HL2DM only, not the single player game. I ended up finding a config.cfg file that was causing the problem.

Actually strike that...you're losing video and power. Still, the file I removed was causing a memory dump on my system.
