Pixel shader 3.0 is a feature that most games will be using from now on. It's the successor to PS2.0, perhaps you've heard of it?

PS3.0 is automatically used when it detects a card capable of it. You must have at least v1.3
 
While you're on FarCry, take a look at its HDR capability. FarCry's HDR is gorgeous.. too bad I can't play at a decent framerate and resolution with HDR enabled.

In ten years you will be able to buy a computer that can run Far Cry playable with HDR. Hopefully that will make you feel better.

Not true... I have 2x 6800 GT in SLI oced to 400/1100 I can run farcry with HDR 7 at 1600x1200 resolution jaggies are barely noticable during gunfights...
 
My point exactly. If your current PC can do this, then PCs in ten years will certainly be able to. You know I'm right--just admit it! Bye or sell or buy.

It ran flawlessly and quite smooth using two Ultras in SLI for me. It will run at 100FPS with the new 7800 series. (If I told you how I know I would have to kill you)

HAHA. Me too. When i saw the thread title i got all excited because i thought it was going to be a story about Far Cry being available on the playstation 3.

Man I work at the 7th largest financial institution in California, we gross over $24billion. I wire more money than you can possibly imagine.

Anyway, I'm upgrading this week as well as buying my '05 Mustang; since I'm giving my dad my 6600GT for fathers day, I'll have a PC with no video.. which is why I'm trying to get rid of my P4 3.0E and mobo.


That just sounds like an awfully arrogant comment. Hopefully you didn't mean it that way, or maybe you have rich parents. :eek:

No, I actually bought two. One for my girlfriend (she plays CS:S) but I forgot she has a PCI-E, so I took it, and bought her another. Then the 1 year anniversary rolled around, $500 purses, wallets... I'm broke. :( (She did give me the Logitech THX Z-5300e speakers in my sig, though)

Besides, a 6600GT is a gigantic leap over his 9600SE. No, he got that 9600SE... see what he does without my guidance? :D
