Far Cry 2 texture problem

I have this weird problem with Far Cry 2 that just started appearing 2 days ago.

It happens randomly, there is no time specific frame whatsoever. When I load the game, the graphics look fine. After playing for a while, the textures become all rough, pixelated and blocky especially the trees, and the jagged edges on objects are noticable. If you don't know what I'm talking about, I have captured a screenshot:

Any ideas whats causing this? I've installed hotfix 1 and 2 and the problem is still persisting.

Yeah, I had that problem, too. I turned off Adaptive AA and it went away.

^^ Tried that, didn't work, problem still persisting. It happens straight away after when I save the game. Bloody annoying. I've even uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers but no avail. Probably a problem with the current drivers, hopefully the next set of drivers will resolve this.

I'm getting the same problem: http://i486.photobucket.com/albums/rr226/wokenfury/Screenshot0023.png

I've tried both catalyst hotfixes, but had to revert to the first one as the latest one crashes my computer in FC2 (video signal lost, graphics card fan spins high for a second, and sound loops). It's not overheating, I'm using the rivatuner auto fan control and monitoring temps. I was getting BSODs with the audigy when opening medkits, but switching to the onboard solved that. The 8.9 drivers worked fine, but they were really slow.

No idea what's screwing up the textures, but it usually happens if I quick save after hitting a new area, probably because buggy code in the save screws up the texture streaming? Loading a new game doesn't fix it, I have to quit and start again. Hopefully Ubisoft or ATI brings out a fix, because the game is irritatingly unstable. So much for my expensive hardware, it would've been a better game experience on my PS3.

I believe that's a game problem, not drivers. I remember some people were getting that in Enemy Territory's beta, and they released a patch and it fixed it.

Could be wrong though.

I really wouldn't be surprised. I've had enemies getting stuck inside rocks, I've fallen inside rocks, the widescreen is broken, etc. Think they only bothered doing QA on the consoles.

At first I thought it was the widescreen fix I was using, but it does the same thing without that, and the game is pretty unplayable then.

i had that problem when i had dual monitors enabled. i disabled it and the problem hasnt occured again at all.

I had an x1600pro that had exactly this problem with the beta but was not present in the retail version.

Finding this thread kinda makes me happy actually (it may not be my hardware)...

Made a new build thats 2 weeks old and I'm getting lines through textures in Far Cry 2. As I move forward or backward the lines on the texture move as well, creating the following effect:

At a large distance I will get flickering as well. At first I thought the card was getting too hot but she tops out at 80 max and generally hangs around 65-75. To me it screamed hardware issue but bfg seems to think its game engine specific...I'm downloading as many demos as we speak to test their theory.

It appears the issue is specific to types of settings (light & color) heres the quickest way I've found to replicate the issue:

-Start a farcry 2 server
-Last Bastion map
-Time of day midday
-Weather type clear

Walk around and look at the castle walls and look at the pretty lines...

Build Details:
Q6600 (Oced to 3ghz and stock tried)
Gigabytes EP45T-DS3R (Latest BIOS)
BFG GTX 280 OC (Official and farcry 2 beta drivers tried)
4 GB OCZ 1333MHz
Enermax 720Watt psu
Vista 64 ultimate (fully patched)

Two questions for the Hard forum crowd:

1. Are there any other gtx 280 owners out there that can confirm if they are experiencing the same texture issue with Far Cry 2?

2.Looking at the pics do you believe this is a hardware issue?

Thanks for any feedback.

The only issues I had was with the occassional artifact/CTD problem that so many are complaining about with the game.

You know, I had the exact same issue with the foliage textures when I first installed the game. It was getting late the night I installed it, so I turned off my system and came back the next day, and reset all the game's video settings to default.

I think the issue may have been the resolution I selected. I was using 1920x1200, but I dropped it back to 1680x1050 and the problem was gone, and hasn't reappeared since.
