yes thats right. not only has fallout3 been leaked but so has far cry 2!!!!!!! by the same person as well

lol this isn't cool.

After a while they're either going to go "To hell with this" and stop bothering to make games or pull an MPAA/RIAA on us.

not make games? LOL then there company goes bust because thats all they do. make games.

you see its ironic that will all this talk about pc pirating, this week we see 2 HUGE titles that are ALSO on the pc getting pirated on the consoles FIRST.

D= I already pre-ordered it on the PC...

Oh well... I'll just wait till it shows up under Steam as ready :D

I for one find this very funny and ironic, since all PC Gamers have been basically called pirates, which is the reason why the PC version is either released very late (and as a crappy console port) or not released at all.
Meanwhile, piracy on the consoles is rampant and on the rise, without consequences. It's not funny actually...it's hilarious.

That said, I'll only buy Far Cry 2, if there's a demo and I like the game. Given that Ubisoft is the king of console ports, I really need to try the game first, before I spend any money on this.

While I appreciate the irony that all this pirating is happening on the XBOX360 I'd wish the bloody pirates would just stop this crap already. The devs need our money to keep putting out great games (and yes, I assume that both Far Cry 2 and Fallout 3 will be great, even if F3 is only pseudo Fallout)...

butbutbut you only get pirates on the PC...

I can see it now...companies pointing out that whomever did this, is really a PC Gamer that did this out of spite.

I would laugh very [H]ard!

Seems like God has some dark sense of humour considering Ubisoft few days ago said they are delaying PC versions due to rampart piracy :D

I was thinking the same thing. It's not just the PC with a huge piracy problem. It's pretty amusing that 2 of the biggest games coming out this year have been pirated already on the 360 when the devs keep telling us it's just a PC problem.

One can only hope the same thing happens to Cliffy B's Gears of War 2, not to mention Tom Clancy's Endwars. Maybe it will send a big fat fuck you to those concerned.

Unfortunately, they've stated that due to the seamless world of FC2, that they could not release a demo of any workable quality, so they're not releasing one.

That would be truly hysterical, but what's really disgusting, is that I could actually already see the PR release insinuating such, which would be absolutely ludicrous, but still, I could imagine them doing so.

Woah, they're delaying it? I keep up with things basically daily, but hadn't heard that... and their reason is seriously due to "rampant piracy"?
If this is indeed true, this whole situation with the industry is just getting way out of control.

No, not really. They are so deep in their own bullshit that they wouldn't see it even if it came and piss all over their faces.

Sad, but true.

So, what would they do about the "console piracy" situation, were this to continue?
They've practically locked down us PC gamers with their bullshit DRMs, but I wonder what would they do for consoles?

This is absolutely an hysterically ironic situation, that I'm sure we all wish someone would learn from... maybe lay-off the PC gamers a bit, seeing that this can happen on both platforms (though it's certainly harder to do on consoles than PC).
Unfortunately, I wouldn't want to put my money on the odds of that happening.

The fact remains:

PC piracy is infinitely more rampant than console piracy. While this can be considered a "big deal", there'll likely be a quick fix for it and the numbers will never reach that of PC piracy, plain and simple.

Agreed and the amount of effort involved in hacking a 360 to play downloaded games VS what it takes to do so on the PC is night and day.

Really ? Then I'll only get this when it reaches the economical bin and if the reviews are any good.

They weren't talking about Far Cry 2, but about an upcoming RTS from Ubisoft, that will only see the light of day for the PC, a while after the console version is released.

Unfortunately, it is indeed true.

Because the world of FC2 is completely seamless and so expansive, the didn't feel that they could just take a "chunk" of the world and create a demo from it, so they stated officially that there would be no demo released.

Ah, thanks for that clarification.

Also note that saints row 2 has been leaked a few weeks ago and that game is still not out yet. hasnt been leaked on the pc though LOL

wrong again. i just did some digging up on how 360's are hacked and well its very VERY simple. i wont say how but u dont need a modchip to do it and its easier to mod then the original xbox

On my local version of ebay you can buy modded x360 even easier than the normal one :D

I wonder if all these 360 leaks are really hurting PC gaming, since most of the people downloading games off of torrent sites are PC gamers.

People play the 360 version on thier PC and don't bother buying the PC version. While 360 gamers aren't d/ling the games off of torrents cause their computer can't handle the game so the 360 sales will not be affected.

u dont need to be a pc gamer to download torrents.

In a year, console piracy will inevitably be higher than it is now. Depending on how much more rampant it is, I look forward to hearing all the pro-piracy people using it as their new arguing point, without thinking that it completely invalidates their current claim of, "Piracy is more rampant on the PC, but it doesn't hurt game sales." Then it will be, "Nobody knows which platform has more piracy!"

This.

But it's easier to ignore this for the sake of an "argument" "Pirating is only on PCs"

NO ONE IS SAYING THAT! It's the numbers and accessibility people!

I don't know if you just picked some rumblings from one or two posters in another thread and made assumptions that everyone said it, or simply don't read very well, but that's not what most people in these kinds of threads say.

What most people say and defend is that, even though piracy is a problem, it's not the only reason why developers are shifting their interests to consoles and ignoring their PC fanbase completely. I never read anyone saying that piracy wasn't a problem, though I did read many with views such as yourself, that piracy on the console is a non-issue, when the reality is far, far from it and as you pointed out, it will only get worse.

Truth. Hacking a 360 still requires opening your 360 and opening your desktop computer. There are plenty of people out there who don't even have a desktop - they only have a laptop. It's pretty easy for someone to download a torrent, install the program, and copy a crack.

No. There are people who do it for you, you know? And as someone else said it, there are other ways... so don't play the "ohh it's hard to mod a console" bullshit card, it's not true.

heh, piracy on console DOESN'T matter because there is a larger percentage of legitimate console gamers than pirates on the console.

The reason why it's a problem for PC is because there is a smaller community(that actually buys games(mmorpg addicts don't buy shit anymore). And there is a large percentage that are in the know on how to pirate.

Like I said in another thread, the PC gaming platform IS the piracy platform. If you're a PC gamer that spends time on a PC, its likely you'll learn the many facets of the platform. Whereas with a console, you're just gaming, and most console gamers just game on a console.

I hate when developers say that, because it's obviously not true. Saint's Row was open world and it had a demo. All they have to do is constrain the demo to a small area.

Actually, you have the option to have the store mod it for you when you buy it. In fact, back in the PS era. When you buy one, it's already expected that it's modded.

Manufacturer warranty is irrelevant, no store over here honors them coz the cost of shipping it back is prohibitive, so you might as well mod it. Only 3 month store warranty but you can play pirated games on it out of the box. That's the standard sales pitch.

Pirated console games cost $2 per disk. It's been like that for years. You're actually more likely to see an original PC game in someone's home than an original console one (Not counting the one that came with the console). Technical knowledge is irrelevant, the guy at the store will do it for you for a little extra. Looking at it now, it actually takes much less effort (and cheaper!) to run a pirated console game than a PC one.

The Sims 2 is a casual game that easily outsold anything for the Xbox, but yet EA started putting SecuROM on the expansion pack and on Spore. The perception of piracy matters more than the reality. Once they notice piracy on the 360 it will matter to them.

The reason why it's a problem for PC is because there is a smaller community(that actually buys games(mmorpg addicts don't buy shit anymore). And there is a large percentage that are in the know on how to pirate.

You can buy or have someone else fix your console to play pirated games. More will learn how to play pirated games on their console now that it is more common.

Like I said in another thread, the PC gaming platform IS the piracy platform. If you're a PC gamer that spends time on a PC, its likely you'll learn the many facets of the platform. Whereas with a console, you're just gaming, and most console gamers just game on a console.
That can change. With more releases coming to the console before the PC version, pirates will follow and not wait for the PC version. You're seeing that happening now.

It makes me sad that everyone is so happy that a console version of a game got pirated first over it's PC counterpart.

IT'S STILL FUCKING PIRACY.

I hate pirates; I hate what they're doing to the games and companies I like, and I hate that people seem to look up to (and respect) the bastards who spend all their time trying to be the first to rip whatever new game first.

Whether or not you believe piracy actually loses sales, you absolutely cannot deny that it has a negative effect on the industry. Even if you believe it's just a perceived effect by publishers, it's still having a very real negative effect.

No. There are people who do it for you, you know? And as someone else said it, there are other ways... so don't play the "ohh it's hard to mod a console" bullshit card, it's not true.

If you think the amount of people that have a modded 360 is anywhere near the amount of people that have pirated a PC game, you're delusional.

While it may be fairly simple to mod an Xbox for those in the know, the fact is that most average consumers don't even know it's possible, let alone would actually do it. Yes, console piracy is on the rise, but it hasn't reached the epidemic levels of PC piracy yet. In the coming years, you'll see more dev teams mentioning it, and new ways to combat it.

Maybe you're missing the point.

Everyone's saying: "LULZ I ARE NOT PORT MY SHAITZY GAMEZS TO THE ARE FAIL PC OLOLOLOL THEYR FULL OF PYRATEZS"

And the f*cking consoles have piracy too and unlike some people who want us to think modding a console is rocket science, well, it isn't. You go to a store and ask to mod it, better yet, if you ask nicely it comes out for the store already modded. Voilà.

Yeah, we're pissed because we're all being labeled as pirates while the console kiddies pirate their games as well and get away with it, and we, on top of that, have to put up with f*cked up DRM schemes and activation limits bullshit.

Get it now?

While it may be fairly simple to mod an Xbox for those in the know, the fact is that most average consumers don't even know it's possible, let alone would actually do it.

Say what? The average consumer what? Who's delusional here now? I think you're sadly mistaken. I very well remember going to friend's houses, friends who had consoles and guess what, NOT ONE ORIGINAL GAME there! OMG the shock, yeah really you must be right, no one pirates on the consoles, everyone buys original games!

By the way you talk I get the impression you think the "average consumer" of a games console is some 30-40 year old "Joe 6-pack". Might want to try again, as in, teenagers perhaps? Who have friends, friends who know stuff, like "Hey, you know what? I know a guy who owns a store down the street, yeah he mods consoles, he's pretty cool, wanna go there?".

Console piracy isn't anywhere near the amount of PC piracy, plain and simple. Once it starts taking a huge chunk out of sales, you'll see more people talking about it, and measures put in place to stop it.

We're only just now beginning to see the effects of rampant PC piracy, the console is still playing catch up.

And you know that because...? I believe someone forgot all about the Playstation 2

As they say "Proof or didn't happen". Show some numbers, facts, evidence. Otherwise you can say whatever you want, doesn't matter. I can pull facts out of my ass too, yeah, pretty cool huh.
