fanless PSU + case temps?

i'm thinking about getting a fanless PSU (from silenx) for my new PC that i'm (hopefully) gonna build soon.

does anyone have a fanless PSU, and if so, what will that do to the case temps, being that air can no longer pass through the PSU? i mean you still have case fans and all, but will that still do the trick?

anyone care to convince me this is a dumb idea?

thanks.

for some of the variables involved
your question as stated in unanswerable
far too many unknown variables form the room ambient, total heat load to your current airflow pattern

you have to determine all of those, enter them into a CFD program
(Computational Fluid Dynamics) and then model it to determine what potential range of ambient temperature would supply sufficient cooling

while OEMs can swing that, we do it by trial and error

thanks, that's some good info. i haven't read the review yet, as it's getting kinda late, but i did read that other thread, and there's some pretty good basic principal information there.

hrmm...... maybe i could rephrase my question, and just ask if anyone here has had or has been around a fanless PSU, and if so if they've had any problems with them or recommendations for diff. types/manufacturers.

well, provided your not trying to operate it in a hot room
and provided your not trying to power too heavy load, which aside from meaning itthe PSU will generate more heat in inefficiency as well as the components eventually converting all that power to heat eventually

and
you have a decent passive thermal solutuion for the other components
they can work quite well, some of them are suprisingly good supplies
Id check spcr and
this review
(not technically as good as spcr, > see this thread)
