fan speed simulator & fan voltage/temp controller

2 tasks for 2 different machines...

1st, one machine gets pissed when I fire it up stating the system fan is missing. There is a header, but no where to physically put a fan. My thoughts are the old PSU had a pig tail that plugged in, however, this one does not.

So, I need to either:have a dummy jack that will make it no longer alarm off on bootup, or, can I ground it out?

2nd, I have a server that I need to thermally control the fans on. I'd like to have the fans run at 7v, and when it gets warmer, ramp up to 12 until it cools down.

I have been all over google looking for some sort of a thermal controller, I can find them to turn the fans on until the system cools down.
 
have you looked in the bios for the first machine to see if you can disable the fan errors?

On your second problem I don't know of an easy fix for. Most newer motherboards can adjust the speeds according to the temps in the case or cpu temp. But for your problem the only thing i can think of is maybe some kind of 5.25 bay fan controller.
 
If you would not like to mess with a controller I would suggest a thermally controlled fan. there are few different brands but these are the only ones that come to mind. Most likely will save some greenbacks as well, and nothing wrong with that. ;) Hope it helps.
 
It is an HP oem board so no can do on disabling the fans. I did put a heatsink fan on the header and put it in the case. No room for a fan controller either.
