Fan speed controller mod? Can It be done

Hello,
I have this left over from a rig

it is a pci slot fan speed controller with a two wire plug off the back ( black and red wire )

Question is, can I hard wire a fan into this>? I am looking to control my cpu fan, It has a 3 pin connector, I have 3-4 pin adapters and all sorts of wire and butt connectors around.

Anyone seen this done?
 
Just use the black and red wires, like the controller has. The third wire (yellow or white) is for fan speed monitoring, which you don't need. I don't know what a fourth wire is for....
