I just got a Galaxy 120mm (with 4 leds) fan to use as my new cpu fan. My question is that it is suppost to be rated at 2400rpm but sensors tell me it's running at anywhere from 1917 - 1982 and I have used it both with the 3 and 4 pin connector. is this normal in terms of a fan of this quality with led's and stuff to not make rated speed? I am just wondering even so it moves a hell of a lot more air then my old led 80mm. thanks
 
if you have it on a heatsink the restriction of it having to push harder on the air will make it run slower usually.

Try running it just holding it in your hand away from any objects that would interfere with air moving and see what the sensor says then.
 
Yeah , I think that's it, I have it mounted on an 80mm to 120mm adaptor and that's mounted to my alpha 8045.
