I have the NZXT Switch 810 case. am im trying to figure out how to set up the fans best in the case. I honestly have no idea how air flow works and right now im only working with 5 Fans but i plan on getting more. Right now my top 2, rear and bottom front are intake. With my bottom fan exaust and my PSU upside down to help keep that hot air out. My computer is currently sitting on a dusty floor so i dont want that to be intake but it does make a big difference i can move some things around. Any ideas or tips to work on this, this is one part i dont think ill ever understand.

I have pictures up of the Comp - http://pcpartpicker.com/b/AFy - there

P.s. Im currenlty waiting on a Corsair H60 to come and ill install that soon, also with some cougar vortex fans...just dont know how many fans and where to place them

I'd switch the rear to exhaust and see how it does. Perhaps the top fans, as well.

The most important thing to remember when setting up airflow to combat temps is that pulling air out of a space moves more air than pushing air into a space. You also want one continuous flow path, not conflicting flow paths. In a meteorological sense, we call this a convergence zone that creates temperate and sometimes harsh weather. You do not want a convergence zone!

Put more simply, you want more exhaust fans than inlet fans.

A perfect ratio of in vs out would be nominal, but unless you have a way to get it perfect using measuring instruments, just go for the more exhaust method. Even if you are doubling your exhaust over your intake, air will move into the case through other means. If you are worried about your CPU HSF being starved for air, do not worry about it, it will get the air it needs.

Looking at your build, this is how I would position the fans:

Top and Rear - Exhaust
Bottom - Move to slot aft of hard drive cages, this will help direct airflow to your GTX 660 and CPU.
Bottom after moving Fan - Leave empty if you are afraid of pulling too much dirty air up, air will still come up through, but without a fan to accelerate the dirt into your case.
Front - Inlet.

Remember, like I said, exhaust > inlet and you will be okay. And don't forget, hot air rises, so don't fight nature by trying to push it down and out, let it go up and out.

On the flipside, positive pressure (more intake than exhaust) has been reported to help reduce dust buildup in heatsinks. I would just go intake fans on front, bottom, and side panels, with exhaust on rear and top.

Alright ill give it a run, I was just worried if I put my intake on the bottom the Video card would block cool air from getting to the CPU, right now I run an avrg 40c and while pushing it 65/70c-ish. I just want to get a good flow and temp before I start worrying about OC...that is always my main concern

I've been fooling with fan locations in a Phantom 630 case i got a couple weeks ago. I use HWMonitor from www.cpuid.com to monitor some temps, and added a Lamptron Touch fan controller which has 6 temperature probes as well as the 6 fan controllers. This way i can place the temp probes anywhere I want them & monitor the temps using different fan locations. I also installed an NZXT Kraken 60 water cooling setup. Here's what I have now & will probably leave it this way.......

No rear exhaust fan - it's too close to one of the radiator fans & I don't want it pulling air from the rad. fan.

4 fans (140mm) on the radiator, push-pull

2 fans (140mm) on the case bottom

1ea. 200mm fan in the case front and side

1 80mm fan on the 3HD's in 2 5 1/4" drive bays box

A couple small fans (40 or 50mm) I had laying around that I stuck on the North & South bridge chips with double sided tape.

Right now, temps are..........

All 4 CPU cores (AMD 4X 965 BE) 26C
radiator hose end 23C
radiator back end 24C
Water block on CPU 27C
Southbridge 27C
Northbridge 29C
HD enclosure26C

Thia was trial & error, moving fans & checking temps until I was happy.
Now to commence overclocking.
