Fan only connectors

I have an antec sonata case which has a truepower 380w power supply. Well, now the PSU fan is dying a slow death so I need to replace it. Here's my problem....

The Antec comes with "fan only" connectors, which for me now are a MUST since if I plug that 120mm fan to a regular molex it sounds like a jet engine

Are there other manufacturers that have this feature? I haven't been able to find one yet. I guess I'll need to go with another Antec?

Actually the 380 is a pretty well rated PSU, why not just replace the internal fan and save yourself some money?

Luck

It's not that I haven't thought of that ;)

BUT as far as I can tell, it's not as easy as it sounds...

The fan has 3 wires that run from it, but it splits somewhere along the way so you end up with 2 wires connecting for power inside the psu, and 2 that run outside to the mobo.... I've also thought about just putting a new 80mm fan inside and running the connector to a regular molex outside the psu... but I think that would get quite noisy.

I might give it a try before breaking down for the new PSU, but in the end I'll probably just end up buying a new one. :(

btw... I'm not a 100% sure about the connections yet since I haven't split it open yet (may still send it back for warranty repair)

It’s actually a standard 3 wire 12-volt fan. A nice dual ball bearing case fan (a quiet one) will work. Cut the three wires from the existing fan, note polarity, then solder the wires from your new fan to the old ones and use heat shrink. The third wire is for tachometer functions, which gets a signal from your motherboard with the blue and black wire and plug.

Or, as you said, warrantee the sucker ;)
