Fan only connecters

I just bought a Antec Neo Power 480 Watt PSU and I was wondering about the fan only connecters. Do you guys use em? Should I bother with them? If so how do they work and does it do its job?

Thanks

I've had a few Antec TP supplies in the past, but I've never used the Fan Only Connector. They slow down fans fine, but the problem with it that I see is that since the thermisistor that is controlling the speed of the fans is inside the PSU, it isn't a good way to judge system temperature. And also, I don't really like thermally controlled fans anyway :p

if i connected my two fans via the two fan connecters and it does not turn on does it mean that the Psu IS BAD? The fans start to turn but they do not

I use them on my TP430 and my Neo 480. I really like to keep my systems quiet, so I use them to control my regular case fans. Makes a huge difference in noise and I notice practically zero delta in cpu temps between full-speed and throttled like that.

Not necessarily. Try the fans on a normal molex, I'm assuming you have the PSU connected to a mobo (if you not you'll need to do that, or short the PSU, or get a PSU tester+load).

Also if your using 'smart' fan (ie one that has a temp sensor, or that's fanmated) you do NOT want to have it connected to the fan only connectors. Since your likely dropping the voltage 2x to the fan, and likely below the minimum that the fan needs to actually start.

I dont quite understand your question. So what you are trying to tell me is that I may have "shorted" my mother board? Sorry for the confusion. Anyway, I have the Cooler Master Ultra Silent Case Fans 80x80x25 if that helps. I will probably just connect it to the regular Molex.

I was just trying to make sure you how you were going about turning on the PSU and the fans (ie with a motherboard or not, if not then how exactly).
