I was just installing my new XP-90, when I found out that the fan I bought with it, the AOC aluminum fan, wouldn't work with it because it didn't have the lower screw holes. Should I just tape it to the XP-90? Or should I look into another fan?
 
Dude, taping a fan to a heatsink is not the smartest of ideas! Most mobo's I know of require verticle mounting, thus the tape will come off, is it worth the risk of a fried chip to you? Buy a $15 fan and be done with it! Unless the ole lady wont let you upgrade your chip and blowing it up is a solution to that problem! =)
 
just go out and buy a new fan. put this aluminum fan elsewhere in your system (a little extra airflow couldnt hurt) and put the new fan on the XP-90. i recommend Panaflo's 92mm fan. even their 120mm if your case can take it.
 
Where is a good place to buy the Panaflo M1A? Frozencpu and Performance-pcs.com charge cuttthroat prices for Panaflo fans. At frozencpu it comes out to 19 dollars shipped for a fan! Any good places to buy these?
 
Chiefvalue and newegg only carry the U1A model which is definitely too loud. Are Sunon fans any good? I am looking at them at svc.
 
ive never heard of them. you could always by a zalman fan control or any other fan controller.
 
Just a question, is it important to have an exhaust? i am still waiting for my 120mm exhaust fan so i just have only intakes for now...

uhhh.... yea. its always good to have exhaust. :rolleyes:

think of your pc as your car. wats the purpose of the exhaust? to get rid of the excess fumes.
the exhaust fan removes 'floating' air. that keeps airflow going. otherwise, the air just sits there w/ no definate way to go.

your ambient temps will drop several degrees once you get that 120mm exhaust. and GPU and CPU temps should drop a couple degrees as well.
