So I finally decided to swap out my hardware from my Antec 900 to my 800D.

Over all I'm happy, but I added one of the Antec 900's 120mm fans to the top rear fan slot on the 800D. I covered the other two slots with an envelope to prevent them being the intakes they currently are. (Making the dust filter on the bottom useless.)

I used the 120mm rubber fan gasket that came with the case, but there were no washers for the screw heads. (As I see some gasket kits contain.)

The hum/vibration I get is very annoying, even on the lowest setting. I don't know if it's the case, or the fan itself humming/vibrating. I believe tri-colour Antecs are not good in the horizontal position, could it possibly that?

I'm looking to get 3 Scythe Gentle Typhoons but am currently broke.

I guess I'm looking to people who have this case, and to see if anyone else noticed this. (Same fan or not.) I want to put a triple rad up there down the road, but if it's going to make that noise no matter the fan, I'll look at something else.

I've got three fans in the top of mine, 1 antec and 2 Koolance 89cfm units for the 120x2 rad in the top.I don't have any vibrations at all. I also changed the bottom and the rear 140's to ones from Koolance to give me a bit more airflow. All my fans except the fan for the "HotSwap" hard drives are on a fan controller and my whole system is pretty quiet.

It's rather annoying. It almost sounds like someone moaning. (I'm going to assume it's the fan on it's side, not the case. The fans are getting old.) I'm hoping the Scythe Gentle Typhoons on a fan controller will help. Sadly I can't afford them right now after buying the SSD/W7U bundle deal.

Unplug that one fan and see if the noise goes away, That will at least tell you if it's that one fan or something else. But most fans should be pretty well balanced. If it's groaning then something is likely wore out. Make sure the blades are clean as well as that might throw it out of balance. Hope this helps until you can afford a replacement.
 
I have unplugged it (Had to, it was driving me bonkers.) and it's the fan for sure. I just couldn't tell if it was the arms used to hold the doors on vibrating ever so slightly or the fans themselves. The case is quite quiet with the default fans. I just wish they would have include a plate or something for the top if they are not going to include the fans. (Fans preferred over a plate, plate over nothing. Maybe the next one.)

I'm going to remove the fan then plug it in and see if it does it on it's own while horizontal outside the case. I just spent the whole day the other day ripping down my old rig and rebuilding it so I've been being lazy about getting back at it.

if its a Tricool fan from the Antec 900 case... toss it out. (or give it away). I had to switch mine out for Yate Loons with a quickness when I got my Antec 900 case. I'd switch to Yates or a low RPM Syth fan.
 
It's one of the Antec 900's stock blu LED fans. (The rear one.)

I think I'll put my H50 cooler into play. That will free up the two NH-U12P fans from my Noctua CPU cooler. It will be temporary until I get the Typhoons. (I need to use the cooler once I get the new mobo for my old e6850.) Not a fan of the the colour of the NF-P12s, in my new case at least. The Typhoons will look nice though.
 
Looking for opinions on how to mount the H50.

What I am thinking is putting it in the center top fan slot as an intake pushing through the rad, and putting 2 Typhoons (Temporarily using the NH-U12P fans.) on either side as outtakes. I'll be adding dust filters to any intakes. This way the heated air from the rad will hopefully circulate quickly to the 3 exhausts. (Stronger draw up than down via 2vs1 on either side.)

I'm thinking this would allow for the best in both CPU cooling, and air flow. Drawing more fresh air through the bottom (Using the dust filter.) rather other locations. Like the rear vent above the rear fan. (Bypassing the dust filter.) There just simply is not enough heat produced in my rig to prevent that vent from being an intake rather than a passive exhaust as intended. I'm considering making a dust filter, or just blocking that off entirely. (Make and paint a steel plate with a rubber gasket to maintain aesthetics.)

Sound good, or is there a better way?
