Guys I need some help. I am putting together a budget system. I am leaning towards getting the A-Bit NF7 motherboard, and the AMD 2400 mobile processor to overclock.

Now I love the quiet Zalman I have on my P4 right now. However the Zalman is just not compatible with the NF7. Could you please suggest a nice HSF that will be just as quiet as the Zalman and also cool the CPU enough for me to get a decent OC out of it. Thanks a bunch.

The Zalman IS compatible with the NF7. You'll just need to mod it. Make sure to get Version 2.0

guys, how can I make sure to get Version 2.0? The one on newegg doesnt seem to show the vresion number. Also how hard is the mod on the Zalman?

dude if you look closely, it says NF7-S V2 on newegg. V2 = version 2

As for the mod, it simply cutting the bracket shorter so it will fit onto the clips. No big deal. If you have dremel, it will take you a few minutes

I dont have a dremel. So can any1 recommend an HSF or what? lol

Also I was just thinking about a regular NF7, since I dont really need SATA. Is there any other reason I should go for the NF7-S 2.0?

Its not that hard...take out a saw and cut that biatch lol took me a good whole 30 mins lol

Basically the NF7-S has SATA, IEEE1394 and Sandstorm. The rest are the same.

lol. Which part exactly should I cut out though?I still have some parts from the Zalman Im using in my P4 system. Is it a part that has a brown-colored covering on one side, with a little square in the imddle? Its the only part I have that I didnt use in my P4.

If that is the part, there are two small screw holes on either side, so if I cut one side, than that would mean I will only have one screw holding it? Is that ok?

Also is there a big difference between the soundstorm, and the audio on the regular NF7?

umm no...

just cut the clip on the zalman and u'll be fine, no need to buy another hsf

I had to buy another HSF anyway. I got the Thermeltake one for $20. I also got the eermax adjustable 92mm fan. Any1 know if its quiet. Some1 on another forum recommended it.

The sandstorm is really good sounding, but it hurts if you get it in your eyes.
