I think I read someone talking about using dryer sheets or somethin' for fan filters. Is this true? I'm in college and I got plenty of dryer sheets :D.

Or, if not, any suggestions for excellent filters?

ya dryer sheets are ok. panty hose and fish tank filters are also great.

lol i had some panty hose in my room and i was going to use them for fan filters and my mom came in my room while i was gone and found them and when i came home she was pissed at me and my computer was gone and i was like wut:confused: and she showed me the hose and i was like what about them and she said i found them in ur room and i said ya there for filters for my fans remember i told u i wanted to get some filters but u said not so i got these. she said ya right go to your room your grounded for your next 2 life times. :D

haha. dude, that could be made into a hilarious nerdy short story or somethin'.

If you try the dryer sheets don't use the scented ones. I recently made that mistake, whole office smelled like spring freshness for days. They do seem to work pretty well. Much better airflow than the packing material that came with my mobo. :)

Hey, I got some Downy Mountain Fresh dryer sheets I use here at school. And frankly, everytime I walk into my room, it smells musty and of computers. I have a mini-tower and my roommate has a Shuttle. I keep sayin' we should buy a plant or somethin' but we haven't yet.

I'm pretty sure those are the same sheets I'm using. The first day after I installed them was especially scenty, almost overwhelming. If your room is musty though, give it a shot, can't be any worse. :D

Are you a doctor, 'cause I'm a Patient Escort at a hospital and I always feel so bad for having to take patients to Endoscopy.

I wouldn't call myself a "doctor" but I am a pretty good amateur rectal photographer. I have also been known to practice primitive colonoscopies with unsuspecting lady-folk. :p

You could also buy filters that are actually intended to be used on fans. They are all mesh, and some are fluorescent too! w00t?

What....the....hell?

I had an old Air Conditioner, I just cut out enough to cover my fans in the front of my X-Alien case. They work great, just need to clean em out every 2 weeks or so.

If you don't know what Endoscopy is or what a Colonoscopy is, I just hope you don't find out the hard way.

Used dryer sheets work best for me, cut the airflow down by about 20%. Panty hose restricts the airflow more than the dryer sheet and coffe filters are like paper....no airflow at all. Aquarium filters .

Well shoot. If I can use dryer sheets and get my room smelling Mountain Fresh while keeping dust out of my case (I frickin' hate dust), then I'll take the 20% hinderence.

Used dryer sheets have little to no smell left. Unused dryer sheets smell but restrict much more airflow.

Precisely, and I have to fetch patients and cart them down to the ancillary unit that conducts these tests. I always feel so bad :(

ok im still very confused how did we get into this convo?
