fan filter?

so i am using a piece of cloth from a speaker for the filter on my side medium speed (M1A) 92mm Panaflo and it seems as though it makes the Panaflo very loud. (My mom will come downstairs at night and tell me to turn off my computer because it is too loud for her to sleep.) Well what are some alternatves to this because i think this filter is too restrictive. Any suggestions? i would like to keep it black.

lol really? i didn't know that you could even do that. I am not too good with aerodynamics.

also, uhh, while i was examining the panel with the fan on (took the panel off with computer on and fan spinning) well i took it off and i did this twitchy movement and whack the panel and i hear the fan crack to a stop and i look and one of the fins of the panaflo got caught in the chicken wire type stuff that i used and wen i turned of my computer to fix it, i tried moving it in reverse and the fin broke off! DOH Has this happened to anyone else before? the fan is unbalanced and i need to somehow reattach the fin, probably my melting it back on so as to not add anymore weight to one side, which would make it unbalanced.
