ok, I am not sure I put this here or OC and Cooling, so feel free to move it.

I just read archangel0585's post about his loud fan and it got me wondering.

would getting more lower db fans produce the same sound as a 1 or 2 80 or 120mm fans that have a higher db?

And remember, sound pressure (dB) doesn't tell the whole story about the "noisyness" of the fan. Noise pitch, mostly dependent on blade diameter, is a factor worth considering. Generally, the larger the fan, the lower the pitch of the noise, and the more pleasant the noise is to your ears.

by more pleasant, i think you mean less annoying  ;)

No, I find a gentle woosh of air to be pleasing. I keep my ceiling fan on at night for that very reason.
