fan/cooling question.

What's the point of having adjustable fans? Why wouldn't you want fans to run at max cooling all the time? Unless you leave your pc on 24/7... I do understand that there is a certain life-span of these items, but fans seem to last a pretty long time.
 
If you have a ton of fans, your computer can become unbearably loud at times. If you're not using it (like when you're sleeping), sometimes it's nice to be able to quiet it down a bit.
 
or you can have soo many fans that as long as the room you run the comp in doesnt exceed 78-80F you can run them all slow... like for home... quiet/silent(mines silent hehe) setting.. for lan partys or friends house... semi loud-loud and the thing about it is you can adjust it to whatever is needed.. why make more noise then neccisary?
